Bridging the Gap

The JP2 Newman Foundation acts as a liaison between the students at the University of Illinois at Chicago and non-profit agencies and organizations that serve the needs of the Chicago's community. Students participating in these projects receive service-related training, unlimited networking possibilities with peers and professionals, as well as a stronger understanding of Chicago's social structure, political process and community identity. It is the expectation of the Foundation that forging these relationships now will lead to an increase in service learning and volunteerism in the lives of UIC alumni.
